Empire State Building
The Empire State Building was built in 1931. Containing 102 stories with a total height of 381 meters it was the world’s tallest building for many years. Built in an era when global economy was recovering from the great depression, it became the sign of American prosperity, economic revival and one of the most important land marks in New York.

Interesting fact:
A US army B-25 bomber crashed into Empire State Building on July 28, 1948 resulting in 141 deaths. The Building however held on which shows the excellent structural design and standards of the building. It was the first incident of an aircraft crashing into a skyscraper.
